Xiaomi Mi 4 and Mi 4c: A brief comparison

Clearly distinguishing point is certainly the age. While the Mi 4 a smartphone from last year, and is likely to have been considered at the time as a high-end device, so the Mi 4c with similar specifications is a more moderate Device of this year, albeit with no less good, technical data. Externally, they resemble each other very strongly with its 5-inch display and the general Xiaomi design. So please refer to the display on the edge of the same soft buttons to control the Android interface MIUI. This edge of the display seems to be marginal at Mi 4c smaller, Xiaomi therefore seems to have something optimized here. The equally large display provides the rest, the same size resolution, here is one on at 5 inches more than sufficient 1920 x 1080 pixels - and even the manufacturers seem to be the same with the Japanese Sharp. The display is, however, taken when Mi 4 in a metal frame that Mi 4c other hand consists entirely of plastic.

RAM

If you look a little deeper into it, you have to learn 4c distinguish between the different versions of the Mi, because this appeared in two memory variants. During the 16-GB version will be accompanied by 2 GB of RAM, the 32er comes as "Advanced" with 3 GB, therefore, where it acts already much higher quality. However, the Advanced version of normal is not only technically, but also superior price - for those who can not be compared due to the similar price tag with the Mi 4 is normal with 16 GB flash memory and 2 GB of RAM. The contrary, the Mi 4 in any version is equipped with 3 GB RAM.

SoC: processor and GPU

Biggest difference point is probably the built SoC. Age caused the Mi 4 is naturally not provided with such a current SoC as the Mi 4c, but this can certainly compete halfway.Note you have to the various architectures, because while the Qualcomm Snapdragon used in the Mi 4 801 (4 x 2.5 GHz) supports only 32-bit, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 (6 x 1.8 GHz) from the Mi 4c a CPU with find 64-bit architecture. In benchmarks is the Snapdragon 808, which is installed by the way also in the LG G4, slightly higher than the competitors, partly only 6 percent, partly 20. Both support the Quick Charge technology for quick charging in version 2.0. The GPUs in Qualcomm SoCs are of course fundamentally different, and here the Mi 4c can achieve a strong advantage; the Adreno 418 GPU from the Mi 4c depends the Adreno 330 GPU from the Mi 4 decreased by up to 40 percent.

Others

Stay still confront us trifles. As mentioned, the battery with the quick charge technology can be charged as fast, but comes at Mi 4 quite classically a microUSB port for use, while the other hand 4c a newfangled USB Type-C port. The capacity of the battery is 3,080 mAh with however identical to the MAH. The cameras differ only marginally; the 13 MP camera on the back of each differs by more than the aperture used, the one with f / 2.0 and once with f / 1.8 comes along. Photos can be saved no matter on a memory card in the microSD slot, which is available on both devices.

After enumeration of all these technical comparisons, still begs the question of which device is the better value for money. In my opinion, the Mi 4 is exactly the still than what it was also presented: A high-end device. Although the SoC is now overtaken by the built-in Mi 4c, so the always available 3GB RAM and the fundamentally wertigere processing points but strong. Ultimately, of course, remains the question of the purpose and the price limit - one might go as high and the Mi afford in the Advanced version with 3 GB RAM 4c, so it is technically, apart from the plastic case, certainly the stronger choice. One must distinguish between the Mi 4 and Mi 4c with 2GB of RAM, I'd pick up the Mi. 4
