clip_image002

Great news for owners of Sony A7II which I have tested here in the blog at some length. On November 18, a firmware update will be published, for free, of course, that brings a function for uncompressed 14-bit RAW images and the AF phase detection for faster and more accurate autofocus DSLR lenses such as the A-mount lenses by Sony provides. The course would be owners of mirrorless full-frame system camera, as I am one.

With the firmware update, the α7 II - after α7S II, II and RX1R α7R II - enables the latest full-screen camera from Sony, the uncompressed RAW images. The "RAW uncompressed / compressed" function can be selected in the menu system.

In addition, α7 II offers after the update as a second camera from Sony - in addition to the flagship model α7R II - a fully operational phase detection auto focus not only on E-Mount, but also with A-mount lenses. The firmware update makes the AF sensor with phase detection AF points and 117 also compatible with many other lenses from Sony. This includes the extensive range of A-mount lenses by Sony. They can be used without any problems with the adapter LA-EA3.

In addition to new features, it is also possible in the future, assign the menu item "FILM" personalization of a user-configurable radio buttons.

The new firmware version 2.0 may, on the support site of Sony http://esupport.sony.com/ be downloaded for free on the product page of the "ILCE-7M2".

The α7 II is compatible with a growing line-up of A-mount lenses from Sony, which now comprises 64 models. Among them are 13 FE full-frame lenses. 2016 intends to expand its range of full-frame lenses to more than 20 different models Sony.
