Remix published first beta of the Android distribution Remix OS for PC

The Android-distribution can be thanks to dual-boot feature parallel to an existing operating system to install. Also a device as a live system from DVD or USB flash drive is alternatively possible. The beta is available for free in a 32- and 64-bit version available for download.

Remix OS for PC based on Android -x86 Project. Its founder Chih-As Huang recently confirmed an official collaboration with Jide. The goal is to establish Android as an operating system for x86 processors target. However, Android-x86 remain an independent open source project, which now also Jide will contribute.

As announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) , Jide has now a first beta of its Android distribution Remix OS for PC released. You can be free in two versions for 32- and 64-bit systems via BitTorrent or directly from the supplier's Web site to downloadand install on desktops and notebooks with x86 processors.

Jide has with the MWC revised the Disk Installer featured update to version 2.0 and a dual-boot function integrated. This allows Remix OS install in parallel with an existing operating system to switch easily restart between the two systems. Alternatively Remix OS can also be set up as a live system from DVD or USB flash drive. For the latter option Jide recommends a USB 3.0 flash drive with a minimum capacity of 8 GB and a writing speed of 20 MB / s.

The support for computers with UEFI BIOS and for over-the-air updates have been added in version 2.0. The latter allows an upgrade of the system, without loss of as yet lost all the data in the Alpha. In addition, the developers have corrected 50 unspecified error in the recent pre-release version.

The Google Play services and the Play Store in Beta still not installed, because Google has it not yet been granted approval. Both components can be retrofitted but via sideloading. A detailed guide to including video, can be found at Liliputing.com.

Behind Jide way are former Google employees: Jeremy Chau left Google in 2008 to promote start-ups, Ben Luk worked for many years in senior positions at Google Maps, and David Ko dealt in his eight years at Google about AdWords and search suggestions , With the Android development none of them had to do directly.
