ThinkPad Yoga 12: first look

On the test this time we got a very interesting convertible ultrabook combining the already well-known flip design with the advantages of ThinkPad. Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12 is a device of only second-generation ThinkPad Yoga, combines excellent equipment with premium processing.

The pivoted structure with the strength of stone

As already fallen in the introduction, the ThinkPad Yoga 12 is within the relatively young product line, but she's earned a place in the sun almost immediately, for which he also owes to the fact that it is one of the currently most innovative series. Ultrabook ThinkPad Yoga 12 is a response to the user, although they took tilt Yoga construction, but they were afraid of her strength and did not want to give up gadgets that carry ThinkPad notebooks. And exactly this Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12 meets. The user can enjoy the benefits that entails flip design and also need not worry about its durability because the chassis has very solid impression. Furthermore, the ThinkPad Yoga offers a slide-out tray, along with a lock key, which helps hold ultrabook tablet mode. Many users then certainly appreciate the stylus inserted in the base of the Ultrabook.

Good display, mediocre sound

The notebook is equipped with a 12 "touch IPS panel with FullHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, this panel is then covered with semi-matt foil. Used IPS technology display provides good color rendering and viewing angles. Conversely, resolution, or softness of the display may be too much for some, especially in combination with pre-installed Windows 7, with which it cannot work too well. Nor are there do not miss Dolby Audio, the sound from integrated speakers, however, is a common standard between working notebooks and film lovers and music and definitely pleased.

Sufficient hardware, low battery

The tested notebook conceals following hardware:

  • Intel Core i7-5500U, 2,4-3,0 GHz (2 cores / 4 threads, 4MB L3)
  • Intel HD Graphics 5500
  • 8 GB DDR3
  • 256GB SSD Samsung 840 EVO

This configuration is sufficient for the vast majority of office tasks as a laptop will be satisfied in this regard, a number of professional users, whether they are office types or outreach workers who regimes ThinkPad Yoga 12 will probably use the most.

However, the worse it will be for users who post their work tools also require a solid battery life. Notebook in itself, while hiding with an eight-cell battery which the manufacturer claims battery life per charge up to 8 hours, now I can tell you, however, that the test piece is an eight-hour endurance even close even at low load, the battery life was around 6 hours. It is possible, however, that this problem is in part about the software, those I experienced during testing several but more on that in a full review, where Ultrabook Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12 looking at the tooth closely and evaluate all its pros and cons.
