Toshiba Announces Self-Encrypting HDDs and SSDs and Cryptographic Erase technology

Brings the Storage Products Division of Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) Several new drive series with Cryptographic Erase features or Even encryption technologies to the market: the MLC SSDs PX02AMU and PX03ANU Series with up to 480 GB, the eMLC SSDs PX02SMQ / U with up to 1.6 TB and MQ01ABUxxxW the SATA HDDs with up to 500GB of storage.Data security and reliable data destruction are central themes of each company. Especially for these challenges, Toshiba has developed the new HDDs and SSDs. With Cryptographic self-erase and data encryption functions on servers, storage systems and mobile devices are reliably protected and deleted.
The MLC SSD series PX02AMU and PX03ANU are Toshiba's first SSD SATA models with a "ATA Enhanced Secure Cryptographic erase" function, the complete data deletion in the shortest time possible. Specifically for Servers and storage devices in the entry-level and mid-range is the PX02AMU series have been developed. The 24-nanometer flash memory technology in eMLC are available in capacities of 100, 200 and 400 GB available (1). For use in Entry-level servers PX03ANU the series has been designed. It is Toshiba's first-ESSD family on a NAND flash memory, and 19-nm-CMLC (Consumer Multi-Level Cell) technology is based. Available in the eSSDs Capacities of 55, 120, 240 and 480 GB.
With the PX02SMQ / U Toshiba presents its first SED SSD with a SAS interface. The eMLC SSD provides cryptographic-erase functionality and AES-256 hardware encryption. It corresponds to the specification "Security Subsystem Class Enterprise" by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), and with its high level of security, the optimal choice for storing highly classified data.
The new SATA HDDs MQ01ABUxxxW the series with a rotational speed of 5,400 rpm provide storage capacities of 250, 320 or 500 GB. The hard drives with a height of 7 mm for use in notebooks, ultrabooks and desktop PCs designed. They have both Cryptographic-erase and Even encryption functions. They also support Toshiba Wipe technology, which not authorized an automatic data deletion at Access possible.
Martin Larsson, vice president of Toshiba Electronics Europe, Storage Products Division, says: "Data security is now the highest priority for any business. Our new drives with their modern encryption standards and cleaners are the perfect solution to prevent data loss or theft reliable. "
