Yesterday there was widersprüchige opinions regarding the development of a CyanogenMod build for the Samsung Galaxy S 4. After an initial report the development of a CyanogenMod custom ROMs for the upcoming Samsung flagship reason was rejected. By late afternoon, however, the team rowed around Steve Kondik something back.
In the first message was communicated that none of the developers going to purchase a Samsung Galaxy S 4. The reasons are manifold, ranging from the lack of support from Samsung, the different models to the lack of interest in the smartphone itself CyangonMod The team is constantly striving to improve existing firmware build, while the users to provide the best possible experience .
However, both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 , the support was always limited by Samsung. So there are sometimes still have problems with the camera application when Galaxy S3 (personal confirmed). But the fact that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 and the octa-core Exynos 5410 hold two processors in the Galaxy S4 catchment make the development of a firmware is not easy.
At 16:30 clock but we rowed back a bit and published a statement on Google Plus. They said that it is far too early to make statements about a CyanogenMod development. Should mean that the team issued a few weeks after the release of the Galaxy S 4 a acceptance or rejection. In my opinion there will be one for the Samsung Galaxy S 4 CyanogenMod build, because this firmware is one of the best on the market and has a big fan base.
Device Setting Expectations
Let's start with the simplest form of this: CyanogenMod does not pre-announce support or lack of support for devices. Ever. Even for the Nexus 4, we did not announce support until a nightly build was available. Further, any announcement regarding the 'dropping' of device support will be communicated via this Google+ page, Twitter, Facebook, our blog, or a combination of those, it will not be something buried in a forum post
This morning, a comment from a CM collaborator on XDA was taken to be as an 'absolute' in regards to support of the S4. He offered the opinion of four TeamHacksung maintainers, their frustrations and lack of interest in supporting the S4. What's seemingly lost on those reading this is that his comments as to individual Tellows speak for CyanogenMod as to organization.
As for the team's stance on the S4, there is not one at this time, and most definitely will not be one before the device is sold at retail.
