With the arrival of iOS 6.1 discovered a new processor for the Apple TV that had not been used to date. Initially, it was thought that Apple could be working on a set-top-box A5X improved processor and even smaller dimensions, at least which appeared in the documents published by the FCC.

These rumors were fading when it emerged that the Apple TV would not win new functionality in the short term, therefore, improve their hardware made no sense since the user would not be able to take advantage of current and perfectly fulfills its function.

What we are doing is actually finished this new processor for the Apple TV but we're not talking about a A5X, but an A5 with even smaller dimensions.

This chipset first appeared in 2011 by the iPad 2 and to create, manufacturing processes were used 45 nm which resulted in a processor by 12.15 mm 10.09 mm. Subsequently, the A5 is improved through the use of energy-a manufacturing process based on 32 nanometer allowed to reduce its size by 41%, remaining with dimensions of 8.19 mm by 8.68 mm.

The new A5 beginning to incorporate the latest third-generation Apple TV measuring 6 mm by 6 mm, and may be manufactured by following a process of TSMC 28 nanometers, data that has not yet been confirmed.

Perhaps other Apple products that use this chipset also look updated with the new A5 promises to be even more energy efficient, which slightly lengthen the overall device autonomy.
