Bad news reaches us as far as web browsers refers renowned within the iOS platform and it seems that we will be without one of the best: Firefox. The Mozilla VP of products Jay Sullivan, has made some statements that ensures that they are unwilling to abandon their rendering engine and JavaScript for the sole purpose of reaching the iPhone or iPad.

For those who are not aware of this, browsers that are in the App Store are required to use the Webkit engine that is used by Apple in Safari. Opera is a clear example of page with its own engine (Presto) had to give in on this point to the directives of the App Store.

Why Firefox will not yield as have others? Very simple, because on other platforms if they will use their tools to load web pages and that would create an uneven performance across platforms.

This decision affects not think much to the users and that after many years of App Store, there are already enough of browsers to meet the needs of each. Apple rules are clear and if someone does not want to go through them, has every right to show their disagreement as did the Vice President of Mozilla products.
