The last CES 2013 in Las Vegas, Plextor has introduced a new swing to SSDs, which have been shown in the mSATA SSD format and will perform an upgrade variations in current and upcoming Ultrabooks their services.
The new Plextor M5M mSATA SSD upgrades are common in the 2.5-inch form factor and appear to offer an mSATA 6.0Gbps interface for data transfer. There is capacity of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB of storage space and give all new models support a sequential read speed of up to 540MB per second. The write speed is based on the other hand, the size of the respective SSDs. The write speeds for the three models are up to 160, 320 and 430MB per second.
Additional technical notes include, among others, a controller made by Marvell with True Speed technology, NAND flash chips from Toshiba at 19 nm design and True Protect technology that will ensure the safety. In addition, all models are equipped with a 256-bit AES encryption and the MTBF is specified with up to 2.4 million hours. For retail pricing, we are not yet available. As release date is the 1st Quarter of 2013 indicated.
