The U.S. Patent Office has awarded a new patent on Tuesday Apple. It revolves around 3D video editing and could play a role in the future Final Cut Pro X.
Specifically, the invention includes a method for the processing of three-dimensional stereoscopic videos as they are used in video editing programs such as Adobe Premiere with After Effects and Sony Vegas Pro.
The particularity of the method is its ability to process two video clips at the same time as it is necessary for 3D videos that contain recordings from two different sources (cameras).
Since Apple's previous Final Cut Pro version in delivery condition (ie, without plugins) does not yet support 3D video editing, the final is relatively close, that the Group intends to integrate the patent in the next version of the program. However, security of this option does not exist yet.
The patent bears the simple but significant title "3D video editing", you will find it under the number 8631047. It was filed in 2010 and called Jeff Roenning as a developer. ( via )
