iOS vs. Android: Conflicting information on the market shares

The estimates of market share between the different operating systems varies sometimes very strong. The magazine 9to5Mac has summarized in a recent article the problem and led it to the point that one should not be confused with actual market shares pure sales - unless you want to make yourself (too) easy.

Quoted on the one hand , a report by MarketWatch , which estimates the market share of Android in the third quarter of 2013 to 80.6 percent and this success leads back to the high heels at Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi and Samsung.

On the other hand, there is a reply by Charles Arthur , an author of the British Guardian. This is not based on the sales figures, but the number of active terminals, which reveals a very different distribution: 40 percent occupies iOS, 51 percent Android.

In particular, the two authors of Guardian and 9to5Mac explained dissatisfied with Androids 80-percent world domination , as this should not reflect the actual growth rates, particularly in the USA, exactly.

For between sale and actual number of users there is a gap, that is to say: Not all equipment purchased will actually be used in addition to the market. Some simply replace old with new.

But be that as it ever was: The pure sale says nothing about the actual use of, Arthur herein has certainly right - and also to be of real use (not just the sale of the equipment) can be yes at the "market" make money, so far you should definitely consider it more on the issue of market share.
