The very first display leaflets were announced about a month ago and we all look forward to be implemented soon in future products. Today, however, Corning, makers of Gorilla Glass, said that the first simple and basic implementations of flexible glass could come as early as this year, but the actual display will have to wait at least three years.
The first prototypes of flexible displays we have already been able to see in the past and the last one was the one presented by Microsoft and Samsung at CES this year in Las Vegas. At the beginning of February, however, another company showed the progress made to achieve a flexible and durable glass, Corning is the company in question, which is the same company that makes the Gorilla Glass, which is used on many devices high-end, iPhone included.
After the announcement, however, James Clappin, president of Corning said:
People are not accustomed to using a folding glass and the current capacity of the people to take advantage of this new technology is still limited.
Clappin went on to say that it is his job to convince large companies find effective implementation of its creation. In fact, he believes that we will probably see some small implementations of this revolutionary glass by the end of this year, but that will take a long time (Clappin says at least three years) before they are optimal solutions which can really amaze us.
The display made thanks to the technology of Corning will see them for quite a while 'then, but it is said that other manufacturers pull out the good solutions from magic hat ahead of its time compared to the famous manufacturer of Gorilla Glass.
